Burnout Looks Terrible on You. Let’s Wash It Off!
Okay, the term "burnout" gets thrown around a lot these days. And, honestly, you probably look GREAT today! You're probably a total smoke-show!
But, there's a MASSIVE difference between "hanging in there" and going through the motions of your life— and being creatively awake, filled up, inspired and alive.
It goes sorta like this...
You used to be lit up by everything — a good line, dew on a spiderweb, a long drive with the windows down.
Your enthusiasm was RIGHT THERE ready to bubble up at a moments notice.
Now? Even your hobbies feel like obligations sometimes!
Your days are full, but they're not filling you up.
Seeing 37 unread text messages after a meeting is enough to send your blood pressure soaring—even though they're all from people you love!
It happens to all of us.
Sometimes slowly, as the build-up of work and daily responsibilities wears us down. Maybe you're not totally crisped, just a little run down. But you shrug it off because it's normal, right? Everybody else is kinda tired, too, and—ya know—adulting is tough, okay?!
Other times, it's the aftermath of a big shift. Relationship change, leaving a job, starting a job, moving, losing a spouse or friend, losing a pet...
Grief, uncertainty, and loss suck the wind out of our sales for MUCH longer than we think it should. Long after you think "I should be over this by now" you'll be feeling the lingering weight and dullness, like a film over everything.
It's easy to get really, really good at enduring.
To make peace with "good enough."
But this doesn't serve your family, yourself, OR the world.
Like Howard Thurman said: "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
That's why we're gathering in Nicaragua to surf, write, and rediscover our flow-state. To stand barefoot in the sea and remember: you’re allowed to be fully you and fully alive.
Consider this your JAILBREAK from overthinking, overcompensating, and pretending you’re fine.
